Congressman Bradley Byrne (R-AL) issued the following statement upon learning that the General Services Administration (GSA) had made a contract award for the construction of a new 155,000 gross square foot federal courthouse in Mobile and renovation of the current John Campbell Courthouse.
Byrne said: “My office has been urging GSA to move forward on the construction of a new federal courthouse in downtown Mobile since early last year. Today’s announcement is certainly good news and a positive development in getting a new courthouse built. I will continue to work closely with GSA as the process moves forward to ensure the courthouse is a welcome addition to historic downtown Mobile.”
According to GSA, the contract has been awarded to W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Company, and the contract period is expected to last approximately four years.
