Byrne to Preside Over U.S. House of Representatives as Speaker Pro Tempore
Washington, DC – January 16, 2014 – For the first time, freshman Representative Bradley Byrne (AL-1) has been tapped by House leadership to preside over House proceedings as Speaker pro tempore on Thursday evening.
Byrne said: “It is a great privilege to be able to facilitate discussion among my colleagues as Speaker pro tempore. I am honored to have been entrusted with this responsibility by our Republican leadership just one week after my swearing-in as a United States Congressman. I look forward to a spirited discussion today as I oversee proceedings from the Speaker’s chair.”
