Press Release

Congressman Bradley Byrne (R-AL) recorded a Facebook Live discussion with the Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden, on the education challenges facing parents, students, and teachers during the coronavirus pandemic and Library of Congress digital resources available to help.  Also joining to discuss the library’s extensive digital resources is Lee Ann Potter, director of the library's Office of Learning and Innovation.

Congressman Byrne said: We are all concerned with making sure that our children get the education they need and deserve as we go through this pandemic, and I’m extremely grateful to Dr. Hayden and her staff for offering resources to help make sure our children get the very best education possible.”

Dr. Hayden said: “We understand that this is a challenging time in this new digital environment and so we want to make sure the Library of Congress’ resources were developed and available in ways that are engaging but also that will give everyone an opportunity to get into this treasure chest.”

The recorded video includes discussions of positive steps schools have taken to adapt this fall and how can the library can assist them, resources to help parents struggling to balance jobs and childcare, and the multiple library resources for teachers.
