We must invest in an "all-of-the-above energy" energy strategy which helps reduce our dependence on foreign oil. We should continue to responsibly grow and expand offshore energy production in the Gulf. A strong energy strategy leads to smaller energy bills for families and more jobs for Americans.

In Alabama, we have a lot to be proud of.  From our best-in-the-nation Pre-K programs to our championship caliber football teams to our booming economy, there is no shortage of things for our residents to take pride in.

One thing we often forget is our outstanding natural resources. From our forests to our waters, Alabama is blessed with an abundance of natural resources that provide a diverse base from which we can produce energy. It is very easy to take for granted our easy access to and the reliability of energy in Alabama.

I am so proud to live on the Gulf Coast. From our delicious food to the abundant natural resources, our part of the country is unlike any other.

My family has called this area home since the 1780s. My family has always enjoyed fishing, swimming, boating, and just spending time on the Gulf. It has become a way of life for my family, just like it has for so many others.

For some people, the Gulf also provides for economic well-being, whether through the commercial seafood industry or our booming tourism industry.

According to Real Clear Politics, 65% of Americans believe our country is headed in the wrong direction.

When you are frustrated, it is simple to spend all your time complaining about what is wrong. In other words, it is easy to be against something.
